Adoption Basics

St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter adopts pets through the St. Charles Humane Society for a fee of $80 (cash or check only), which includes the cost for age appropriate vaccines, rabies vaccination, deworming, spaying or neutering, flea and tick control and microchipping.

Potential adopters will be required to complete a St. Charles Humane Society Pet Adoption Application, Microchip Owner Form and Adoption Certification. Adopters will also be required to present a driver's license as a form of identification.

The completed forms will be thoroughly reviewed by the shelter staff before approval. After approval, the new owner will be given the health record of the animal, rabies tag, microchip tag, a copy of the adoption certificate, information from the Humane Society veterinarian regarding care of the pet and a prescription for flea or tick prevention (if applicable).
