  • SPILLWAY ROAD CLOSED
    Public Works has closed the Bonnet Carre’ Spillway Road until further notice due to high water.
  • INSTRUCTIONAL BASKETBALL CAMP
    Registration for the 2017 Instructional Basketball Camp hosted by former NBA Player/Coach Michael Sanders is now open until May 31. The camp is open to both boys and girls. Space is limited. Please visit our website at stcharlesparish-la.gov/recreation to register.
  • HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS
    As you all know, our Emergency Preparedness Director Joe Ganote and the Public Information Office have been holding a series of public meetings in each of the council districts to provide information on hurricane preparedness, the 2017 hurricane outlook and answer questions. The confirmed dates can be found on the parish website.
  • HURRICANE ASSISTED EVACUATION EXERCISE 
    Our Emergency Preparedness Department, in conjunction with several other departments and organizations, conducted an assisted evacuation exercise on May 12 in preparation for hurricane season. Members of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program served as mock-evacuees going through the process of registration and assisted evacuation, including baggage check, check in for both citizens and pets, and boarding. At the end of the drill, feedback from volunteers was gathered by EOC personnel. Participants included the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, the Animal Control Office, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Planning and Zoning, the Government Buildings Office, the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office and the American Red Cross.
  • GRAND OPENINGS 
    I recently attended a few ribbon cuttings for businesses in the parish: Destrehan Discount Pharmacy, Sunbelt Supply Company and Bottom Line Equipment. Congratulations on the expansion of these businesses who have all been doing business in the Parish for a number of years.
  • NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER 
    I served as the master of ceremonies at the national day of prayer in the courthouse on May 4. It was well attended. I would like to thank those who organized the ceremony.
  • PEACE OFFICERS MEMORIAL  
    I also had the honor of speaking at the Peace Officers Memorial to honor our fallen police officers. I would like to thank the Sheriff’s office for including the administration on this day of recognizing our fallen officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our citizens.

  •  FISHING RODEO
    I attended the Annual Fishing Rodeo sponsored by SCP Council of Aging and Parks & Rec. I would like to thank the SCP Parks & Rec and Council on Aging for organizing this event for our seniors. Everyone had a good time.
