READ PRESIDENT COCHRAN'S REMARKS FOR CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
Parish President Cochran, parish officials and the staff of Child Advocacy Services planted pinwheels at the St. Charles Parish Courthouse on April 12 to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month. Cochran also delivered the following remarks after reading the official recognition:
"We are excited to be able to help support CAS with their efforts in preventing child abuse. It may seem like planting pinwheel gardens isn’t much compared to what the ladies at CAS do day in and day out, but us coming together is vital because it raises awareness … and raising awareness is the first step in prevention.
Let me urge you to talk with the CAS ladies here today and see how you can help them or maybe even volunteer with them. I say that because although April is child abuse prevention month, every day is a struggle for the children they help. And the children in our parish are our future. It is our responsibility to raise awareness of the issues these children face and be good stewards of children.
