REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER CAMP AND SWAMP SCHOOL NOW OPEN

St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is now taking applications for both its 2017 Inclusive Summer Day Camp and Swamp School.

 

Inclusive Summer Day Camp

Inclusive Summer Day Camp is scheduled to run from June 5 until July 14 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for campers ages 5 through 14 for all campers including those with disabilities. If your child requires personal care assistant; this service must be provided by the parent(s) or guardian(s).

Regular registration will be open from March 7 until May 7 until midnight (online) at a cost of $400. Late registration will begin on May 8 until midnight (online) at a cost of $400 with a $50 late fee.

Campsites include Ethel Schoeffner Elementary in Destrehan, Lakewood Elementary in Luling, Albert Cammon Middle School in St. Rose and Luling Elementary in Luling.

Activities will include team sports, arts and crafts, board games, music, a talent show, outdoor activities, movie time, field trips, swimming, spray park and much more. Tutoring is available at the Ethel Schoeffner site; please call (504) 722-3636 for more information.

One free t-shirt is included with the camp rate, and additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each. Optional before and after care is available for a one-time additional fee of $350 at the Lakewood and Shoeffner sites. The fee must be paid in full at the time of registration. Campers at the Luling and St. Rose site may take part in the Summer Food Program for lunch; campers at other sites must bring a bag lunch.

Those in need of financial assistance for summer camp may apply for a limited number of need-based scholarships through the United Way of St. Charles. Visit www.uwaysc.org for the application or call (985) 331-9063 for more information on how to apply.
A Saturday information and registration day will be held from 9 a.m. until noon April 23 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. T-shirts will also be available for purchase on that date.

Swamp School

St. Charles Parish Swamp School is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for four separate one-week sessions beginning June 6 at the Wetland Watchers Park, 1650 Lower Guide Levee Road Norco LA 70079. Session dates are listed at the bottom of this page. All campers must be 8-12 years old and must bring a bag lunch, full bottle of water, a snack, closed toe tennis shoes and a rain coat. Sunscreen and bug spray should be applied each day before camp. No electronics are allowed.
