More than 400 people attended the annual parish Easter egg hunt on April 8 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center. Some of the donations from this event are going toward Special Olympics. Special thanks to the Valero volunteers and Recreation staff who make this event possible.

  • WETLAND WATCHERS CELEBRATION

The Wetland Watchers Park played host to 1,800 people on April 1 for the annual Wetland Watchers Celebration where the group raises awareness of their initiatives. I stopped by and was impressed. Thanks to all who organized the event.

  • BRIDGE RUN

A team of 35 parish employees and myself participated in the United Way of St. Charles’ Bridge run on April 1 as part of our wellness initiative. Thanks to all those who participated. Next year my goal is to take home the trophy for team participation.

  • DRX Drill

The Bonnet Carre’ spillway played host to an emergency response exercise by GOHSEP and the Louisiana National Guard on April 1. The drill focused on search and rescue, evacuation, restoring civil order, commodities distribution, re-establishing communication, and synchronization of emergency response functions. Thank you to the members of our Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Office of Animal Control who participated.

  • FIRE SERVICES GRADUATION

Also on April 1 I had the honor of speaking at the St. Charles Fire Services training facility graduation ceremony. Congratulations to the men and women who graduated and thanks to the fire chiefs for reaching out to me.
