PUBLIC NOTICE: CHICKEN BLOOD SAMPLES POSITIVE FOR WEST NILE VIRUS IN NORCO, MONTZ, NEW SARPY
The Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory has confirmed chicken blood samples positive for WEST NILE VIRUS in South Norco and Montz on Aug. 8 and New Sarpy Aug. 15.
Mosquito Control Services Inc. personnel have increased spraying and other abatement measures in the area.
All residents are urged to avoid mosquito bites by avoiding being outside at dawn and dusk, wearing pants and long sleeves and using insect repellent containing DEET. To eradicate mosquito breeding sites, be sure to dump out any standing water in yards
