TRASH BASH RELEASES DETAILS, IPAD MINIS TO BE RAFFLED FOR PARTICIPANTS

As volunteers continue to sign up for March 3’s spring Trash Bash event, organizers are busy behind the scenes putting together a fun celebration in honor of the event’s hard-working volunteers. Entergy Louisiana, LLC has provided two iPad Minis to be raffled amongst event participants.

The tenth annual event will be held from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. March 3 with an outdoor celebration afterwards until 1 p.m. at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling.

The “after-party with a purpose” will feature hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, jambalaya, smoked sausage, dessert, drinks and more. The Wetland Watchers of Destrehan’s Harry Hurst Middle School will host their popular live animal and educational displays, as well as games and giveaways for the kids. Additionally, face painting will be available.

There will be a table set up for the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council to collect old electronics and provide recycling information to residents. DJ-Fish will provide musical entertainment.

Event sponsors include the St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department, the United Way of St. Charles, Valero/Veolia, Pelican Waste, DNG Electric, River Parish Electric, the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council, Entergy Louisiana, Source Production Equipment Co., Bruce Pitre and the Harry Hurst Wetland Watchers.

Those interested in volunteering may sign up as teams or individuals at www.scptrashbash.org or by calling (985) 331-8604 until February 28. All work equipment will be provided, including pick up sticks, trash bags, drinks and t-shirts. Verification certificates are also available for young people needing service hours for school or church requirements. Volunteers may clean or beautify an area of their own choosing or be assigned an area.
